June 26th, 2009 |Posted by Janelle

Fresh off the heels of opening Givenchy and snagging Top 10 Newcomer status Kelsey van Mook lands on the cover of Vogue Australia. Looking chic in thigh high boots and a black mini Miss van Mook gives off a vibe that is very old-school supermodel. Keep an eye on Kelsey as this is sure to be the first of many Vogue covers for her.

Party Favors

June 26th, 2009 |Posted by Janelle

Enjoying the nightlife appears to be a recurring motif within the F/W campaigns. DSquared F/W serves up yet another ‘sexy night on the town” themed ad but this time around Lara Stone, Kerry Degman, Antonio Navas and Cesar Casier have the sort of wild evening only Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott could capture. From Lara riding on Kerry’s back to the group partying on a Rolls it would seem a very good time was had by all.

Bits and Bytes: RIP MJ

June 26th, 2009 |Posted by Betty

Michael Jackson photo via Jezebel.

To so many people Michael Jackson was an icon of pop culture. To those of us who came of age in the 80’s, Michael was a part of our lives. It was as simple as that. For all the turmoil of his later years, he will always be remembered for his musical genius and his fashion forwardness.

In other sad news, American actress Farrah Fawcett succumbs to cancer.  James from Women Management has a touching tribute to the beautiful girl from Texas, celebrated in the Vogue cover below.

Speaking of class acts, it would be good for today’s aspiring models and actors to learn some lessons from Johnny Depp.

Activist and model Summer Rayne has a shoe line!

Heidi Klum as Barbie. Looks the same we think!

How strange, male models looking… not so serious. Who is it? Ryan Taylor, the king of the runway several years ago is back and available and smiling for Iceberg.

The September Issue is previewed and it looks to be totally dishy. It can’t get here fast enough for us.

Want the whole scoop of the turmoil at Interview Magazine? WWD has it all, from clashing egos to shoots that ran $100,000 over budget.

Campaigns keep coming in and star photographer Mario Sorrenti is showing his versatility with campaigns for two brands that couldn’t be more different. For Hugo by Hugo Boss Sorrenti takes things in a completely different direction with an austere black and white campaign staring the eternally gorgeous Anouck Lepere.

Bits and Bytes: From rooftop to runway

June 24th, 2009 |Posted by Betty

Jean Carlos at DSquared2, S/S10. Image from Made in Brazil. With MC2 Model Management.

Seems like a mere 15 minutes ago, Jean Carlos was shooting his first tests in New York on a rooftop. This week, the Brazilian so popular with the fashion bloggers walked some of the big runways in Milan, including DSquared2, CP Company, Etro and Giorgio Armani.

If you adore Heidi Klum, Alessandra Ambrosio, Marisa Miller, Adriana Lima, Selita Ebanks, Miranda Kerr, Behati Prinsloo and Doutzen Kroes, then go to Victoria’s Secret’s Facebook page.

Surprise! Jamie Dornan, in 3 of the season’s Calvin Klein campaigns, says he’s never done a runway show.

The Milan men’s shows had some breathing room, thanks to the recession.

Frockwriter talks about the “Hedi Sliminization” of fashion and here’s the Guy Trebay NY Times article on AJ Abualrub dropping 30 pounds for the shows. Much has been made of him saying he eats twice a day; not that we are condoning that but all we can say is when we were in our teens, we had totally bad habits like eating twice a day too.

Watch Jil Sander, Gucci and Roberto Cavalli all here and Burberry, Zegna and Dolce & Gabbana here.

Helmut Newton‘s Sumo re-released!

For his S/S 10 show, Alexander McQueen does a film instead with David Sims.

Here’s another hilarious look by Jezebel at male models in vintage catalogs. All we can say is the male model and what they wear sure has changed!

Sans Artifice likes the Jil Sander collection and we do too!

Karen Elson, Isabeli Fontana & Clement Chabernaud are party goers enjoying an evening out and from the tell tale expressions on their faces they are having one helluva time. We want two of whatever it is Clement is sipping on.
