Big Time Sensuality

February 25th, 2009 |Posted by Janelle

The divine Doutzen Kroes bares all for VMan in an alluring vintage style editorial. Shot by Sebastian Faena the soft focus images call to mind classic 60s pinups. With her bee-stung lips and enticing curves Doutzen remains the one of the most engaging and sensual models in recent memory. The pictures show a side of the supermodel that is both demure and intensely sultry.

Carmen Kass represents the kind of icy perfection that makes her a perfect portrait of aspirational luxury. For Vogue Paris Carmen brings her refinement to everyday settings. Maciek Kobielskicaptures Carmen looking languid as she poses with the season’s premier accessories. No matter the setting Carmen maintains her quintessential high class charm.

Bits and Bytes: Missy and Chad for Love

February 23rd, 2009 |Posted by Betty

We’re a tad behind on our bits and bytes because of NYFW. Let’s catch up to speed..

Backstage coverage in NY we loved: NY TimesEric Ray Davidson’s Photo of the Moment. Sonny Photos, the super nice Aussie who takes fabulous fun photos of the girls.  JD Ferguson (of course) who takes wonderful pics.  Starworks worked with Kevin Tachman, check out his work at Temperley and at Costello Tagliapietra. For his website, click here.

If you’re one of the few who hasn’t already heard… Olivier Zahm, Purple Magazine’s founder, blogs and boy is it a special peek into his world!!

Apparently Gareth Pugh is definitely headed to Dior Homme.

We love Simon Nessman, the Givenchy face is one of our favorite, unaffected male models.. One major factor? He’s Canadian. Read his interview here.

Who knew Bruna Tenorio had a blog? (Thanks MIB for the tip!)

Matt Irwin exhibits in London!

Sally Singer, from American Vogue, sounds like a woman we’d like to know, interviewed by Mediabistro.

Designer Richard Chai inteviewed by Supreme.

Ponyryder interviews the beautiful American, Jenny Sweeney.

Want to see Ashton Kutcher in his modeling days? Click here for a blast from the past. I met him back then and knew he’d be a star.. such charisma that one…

As Love Magazine’s pics come pouring in, dare we say it? We “love” what we are seeing; dynamic, fresh and fun images. Stay tuned for more..

The Alaia Edge

February 20th, 2009 |Posted by Janelle

There is a little thing called a dream team – take one iconic designer, one bonafide supermodel and one of the best photographers working right now and what do you get? Another stunning editorial in Interview. Gisele Bundchen joins Craig McDean in paying tribute to the body conscious designs of Azzedine Alaia. While Alaia is known for the architectural perfection he brings to his work it doesn’t take much to make La Bundchen’s body look flawless.

For even more Alaia action. Check out the full story at Interview Magazine.

The Exclusives (updated)

February 19th, 2009 |Posted by Betty

The industry always excitedly waits for the Calvin show as it never fails to debut some of the season’s most coveted faces.

The consistently powerful casting by Maida and Rami ushered in the arrival of 16 year old Louise from Belgium, winner of the Elite Model Look Europe 2008. Addison Gill, the Canadian winner of the V/Supreme model contest emerged in the stellar lineup and everyone finally undestood why she was curiously MIA this past week. Perhaps the most exciting exclusive was the 17 year old American, Lyndsey from Click Models, scoring the first Calvin show exclusive for a young woman of color. Lyndsey was found by Click on MDC’s scouting feature! 17 year old Canadian Bojana from IMG was a dark haired beauty, a welcome change from the blondes galore.

Some other tidbits from the Camilla Nickerson styled show.. Jac (MDC’s top F/W 09 newcomer) opened and closed Calvin; we can say Jac is officially cleaning up this fashion week. Other new faces appearing for their first time in Calvin were Hannah (another MDC top newcomer) and the new faces at Women Direct, Alla and Dorothea.

True Colors

February 18th, 2009 |Posted by Janelle

Allure knows beauty. This month Mario Testino takes two of the season’s most coveted (and stunning) faces – Sessilee Lopez and Edita Vilkeviciute and showcases their radiant beauty. Wearing softly colorful looks crafted by makeup artist Tom Pecheux both girls look glowing, fresh and ready for spring. The contrast between Sessilee’s edgy high fashion allure and Edita’s pristine prettiness makes for a truly memorable pairing.

February 18th, 2009 |Posted by Janelle

Olivier Rizzo‘s ultra-feminine styling and paired with the stark imagery makes for a unique and engaging editorial. For the full story be sure to check out V on newsstands March 5th.
