High Concept

January 30th, 2009 |Posted by Janelle

The sleek and starkly modern collection presented for Jil Sander S/S has found its photographic counterpoint via Willy Vanderparre‘s distinctive campaign. Natasha Poly, in her second season as face of the brand is joined by Doug Jewell for a series of high contrast images. Both models infuse the pictures with an unadorned refinement befitting both the simple black and white style of the campaign and the minimalist ethos of Sander itself.

Teen Dream

January 29th, 2009 |Posted by Janelle

Karlie, Chanel, Karmen, Ali, Viktoriya – what do these girls have in common besides preternatural prettiness and skyrocketing careers? They all got their start in the pages of Teen Vogue! With its impeccable casting and focus on fresh talent, Teen Vogue has helped to launch many of modeling’s most wanted faces. This month’s star in the making is Lena Lomkova the stunning Prada/Miu Miu exclusive whose gamine looks and feline eyes made her an in house obsession – joins the ranks with a delightful editorial.

Risque Business

January 29th, 2009 |Posted by Betty

In the 80′s there was Brooke Shields who famously declared that nothing came between me and my Calvins. In the 90′s the infamous photo shoot in the basement took place that had conservative Christians crying child pornography. Sandwiched in between were iconic underwear images of Tom Hintnaus, Marky Mark and an English new face named Kate Moss. If there is one thing that Calvin Klein can do is create a buzz that millions of advertising dollars cannot buy. The current commercial for CK Jeans shot by Steven Meisel is already banned in the US (joining last year’s Calvin’s Eva Mendes fronted Obsession fragrance). This is the first CK Jeans commercial since Brooke’s and it doesn’t disappoint. WWD has the uncensored preview here and steamy it most certainly is. The models spotted rolling around and appearing in the provocative print ads are some of the industry’s hottest stars and freshest new faces including Anna Jagodzinska, Anna Selezneva, Natasha Poly, Edita Vilkeviciute, Danny Schwarz, Vladimir Ivanov, Carson Parker and new face Mikus Lasmanis.

Ph: Meisel for CK Jeans S/S 09.

Shout It Out Loud!

January 27th, 2009 |Posted by Janelle

Modeling is not for the faint of heart, it takes personality to deliver the the kind of in your face dynamic poses that make pictures memorable. Case in point Giedre Dukauskaite, kicks it up a notch for the cover of 10. While Giedre is known for her delicate features and demure beauty there is absolutely nothing reserved about her cover. She vamps it up for the camera with a shout that makes for one of the most aggressively cool covers we’ve seen in a long while.

The Many Faces of Anna J

January 27th, 2009 |Posted by Janelle

When it comes to campaigns Anna Jagodzinska is one of the season’s queens. Whether she is lounging elegantly for CK, taking on classicism for Prada or looking cool for Chloe, Anna embodies the spirit of the image presented. With 12 campaigns under her belt for S/S 09 alone it’s her chameleonic capacity for change (in addition to her radiant beauty) that keeps her so coveted.
