Flaunt It

February 19th, 2015 |Posted by Janelle

Fashion has been missing Abbey Lee now that she splits her time between movies and campaigns, but she’s always a welcome presence on a magazine cover Flaunt puts Abbey front and center for its location issue in an ethereal shot by Maurizio Bavutti (Paris: ArtList Paris, New York: ArtList NY). Abbey has always been best when she’s in full ethereal-mode and on the bewitching cover she sports a ruffled latex, a septum piercing and a halo of bleached hair for a look that is hauntingly beautiful.

Ray of Light

February 18th, 2015 |Posted by Janelle

It doesn’t get any better than Peter Lindbergh and Grace Coddington for American Vogue and this month the duo turns out a beautiful featuring several of the moment’s most beautiful faces Aya Jones, Malaika Firth, Imaan Hammam, Kai Newman and Tami Williams take to the desert in airy lace dresses that call to mind the past, but were taken straight off spring’s romantic runways. The story’s model selection couldn’t be better and Aya, Imaan, Malaika, Leila Tami and Kai captivate every image they appear in – here’s hoping we’ll be seeing plenty more of them in Vogues pages.

McQueen Forever

February 16th, 2015 |Posted by Janelle

Another Magazine always pushes the boundaries of what a magazine can be and its S/S15 issue is a testament to that fact. Focusing on the past, present and future of Alexander McQueen‘s legacy the issue looks back to Lee Alexander McQueen’s archives while nodding to Sarah Burton‘s current collection. Three very different muses grace the front page, rising star Stella Lucia is transformed by Nick Knight in an arresting image, while actress Léa Seydoux is a natural beauty in Collier Schorr‘s portrait. Finally the unmistakable Rihanna poses for Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin in custom McQueen. The combination of viewpoints and covers makes for a beautiful tribute to the versatility and creativity that continues to define the McQueen aesthetic.

BFFs

February 13th, 2015 |Posted by Janelle

Time spent with your best friend is always time well spent, so Karlie Kloss and Taylor Swifts March cover of American Vogue strikes a special chord. As an exceptionally dynamic duo the two have made headlines with their extremely close friendship, spreading girl power and positivity with every red carpet appearance and adorable Instragram photo. Mikael Jansson shoots the besties in road trip mode, cruising through Big Sur in a convertible and sporting Tonne Goodman styled bohemian wares from Saint Laurent and Valentino. Jansson’s photos are so good you can almost hear the sound of Swift’s hit ‘Shake it Off’ blaring on the radio as you look at them.

Spooky!

February 12th, 2015 |Posted by Janelle

Before there was Cara or Kendall, Agyness Deyn was the most talked about model in the world, making as many headlines as she did covers. The Brit beauty took a well-deserved break to explore acting and the quiet life beyond fashion, but now she’s back and looking better than ever in the pages of Love Magazine. With Tim Walker (Camilla Lowther Management) serving up his signature fantastical photography and Katie Grand (Camilla Lowther Management) pulling out all the styling stops the story crackles with energy. Spooky is an appropriate name for this editorial, but more than simply being mildly unsettling and filled with horror references, Walker’s images are evocative, beautiful and remind us of fashion’s limitless creativity.

Future Perfect

February 10th, 2015 |Posted by Janelle

Phil Poynter (Serlin Associates)
Garage Magazine
Joan Smalls, Lara Stone, Binx Walton, Kendall Jenner and Cara Delevingne

The digital dominance of high fashion takes center stage in a series of arresting covers for Garage by Phil Poynter. Sporting brightly colored Beats by Dre headphones and a bit of digital wizardry, the covers transform each girl into a space age pin-up. Poynter’s merger of the seductive and the weird makes these images unforgettable.
