First Look: SSAW Finland

May 11th, 2015 |Posted by Irene Ojo-Felix

SSAW Magazine (Finland), the London and Helsinki-based fashion magazine has released their latest bi-annual issue and the focus is on lucky number 7. With seven in-depth interviews with the buzziest design houses of the present – Julien Dossena, Jacquemus, Thomas Tait, Craig Green, Vetements, Satu Maaranen and Hood by Air, the publication’s biggest issue yet is more interested in the essence of now. Seven editorials follow featuring faces like Lindsey Wixson shot by Gia Coppola and styled by Heathermary Jackson looking delightfully fresh-faced, Maria Veranen shot by Chris Vidal Tenomaa in pieces that resemble wearable art, and 90s legend Rosemary Ferguson on the cover by photographer Drew Jarrett. The raw curation of the images translates remarkably for the viewing pleasure with colorful, dynamic imagery.

Check out our exclusive preview of the issue below.

Heart of Spain

May 7th, 2015 |Posted by jonathanshia

After the success of the premier issue of EY! Boy Collection—with a hundred pages of new face Garrett Taber shot by Bruce Weber—Luis Venegas’ latest project celebrates the youth of his home country Spain with an issue photographed entirely by Daniel Riera starring the brand-new Jose Tengiz, who just signed with 5th Models in Barcelona on the strength of his youthful appeal showcased here in his first shoot. Over a hundred pages, Riera captures the energetic Tengiz, who has some of the cheeky charm of a young Mark Wahlberg, leaping off docks, rolling in the sand, and practicing the parkour that has been his longtime hobby. Discovered after reaching out to Spanish stylist Josie on Twitter, Tengiz is, as the back cover describes, “filled with energy, strength, beauty, and enthusiasm—some of the most positive values typically associated with youth.” Take a look at our exclusive preview of the issue—now available for sale at ByLuisVenegas.com—and accompanying video of Tengiz in action, below.

Lurve Actually

May 7th, 2015 |Posted by steven.yatsko

For Lurve Magazine’s ninth issue themed “Visually, Precisely” the indie mag wanted photography itself to be the creative thrust, so assembling art photographers and image aficionados like Giasco Bertoli and Valerio Spada, who typically operate outside of fashion, made complete sense to shoot the two covers. Philo-philes can embrace the Céline laden cover stars styled by Moreno Galatà. Sure-to-be-hit Poppy Okotcha looks simply sweet in natural light by Spada and Taja Feistner brings the edge, shot in Bertoli’s raw manner. Other editorials by Estelle Hanania with Yulia Musieichuck and Sara Van Pée keep in line with those honest and candid aesthetics, whereas Edith Bergfors’ rich and contrasty images explore form. See the exclusive issue preview below.

Muito Marlon

May 6th, 2015 |Posted by jonathanshia

Made in Brazil devotes their latest issue to one of male modeling’s most iconic Brazilians, Marlon Teixeira, whose curly locks, tanned skin, and toned abs have made him a constant presence in campaigns and magazines throughout his many years in the industry. The incomparable Bruce Weber opens the issue with a hand-drawn sketch of Teixeira and a tender introduction comparing him to “some unexplainable aquatic mystery.”

In the rest of the issue, Milan Vukmirovic shoots Teixeira in a collection of vintage sports cars dressed by George Cortina in little more than a fur throw, while Cristiano Madureira finds him at home with his surfboard on Santa Catarina. Fellow Brazilian superstar Caroline Trentini joins Teixeira for a classically clean feature by Gui Paganini styled by Renata Correa, while Rodrigo Calazans, Diego Miguel, and Leo Bruno all also star in their own editorials. After the success of the previous International Issue, all-American Calvin Klein favorite Clark Bockelman holes up in a rustic beach shack in a story by Matthew Scrivens styled by Benjamin Sturgill, bringing together an issue that offers the best of Brazil to the world and vice versa. Take a look at our exclusive preview of the new issue, out Friday, below.
